Heading for The Hill The official swearing in ceremony |
Public officials in cities across the country have begun proclaiming their local Drug-Free Marshals Day. With this support and a decade of empowering millions to be drug-free as their springboard, the Marshals are going for more. To officially celebrate their ten years of drug-free crusading, and expand it to reach millions more, the Drug-Free Marshals are taking their campaign to the Nations Capital. There Marshals from around the country will meet and perform honorary swear-ins with members of Congress from every state, capping their trip with a gala anniversary event.
The only way to have a drug-free environment is to create it, says Gonzales. So, yes, we have a lot to celebrate in Washington and in cities across America, but whats more important is that we broaden the Drug-Free Marshals effective drug prevention campaign to an even wider level of recognition and use.
A series of local events lead up to the Washington DC ventures. At these local activities old-time Head Marshals pioneer Drug-Free Marshals who are now in their twenties are rallying grassroots Drug-Free Marshals in cites nationwide to sign on highest-ever pledgers and round up their local delegates for visits to Capitol Hill.
Gonzales says the Los Angeles campaign includes new anti-drug booklets printed and distributed by the hundreds of thousands and a commemorative 10th Anniversary brochure, as well as newly-designed 10th Anniversary Drug-Free Marshals t-shirts, ball caps, posters and other items promoting the commitment to be drug-free.
